The timing of most traffic signal lights in Columbia Heights is maintained and operated by the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

Flashing Yellow Arrow Turn Signal 
A new type of traffic signal has been installed at various intersections.  This signal uses a flashing yellow arrow for left turns. The flashing yellow left-turn arrow signal allows drivers to turn left after yielding to oncoming traffic and to any pedestrians in the crosswalk.  This type of signal keeps traffic moving, increases safety, and reduces gasoline consumption.
