Candidate Forum for Mayor, Council, and Commissioner is Sept 20 at City Hall

Second and Final Candidate Forum of the Season to be Held in the City Hall Council Chambers
The League of Women Voters will hold a candidate forum for mayor, city council, and county commissioner candidates 7 pm, Sept. 20, in the Columbia Heights City Hall Council Chambers.

This is the second candidate forum at City Hall this election season, but the first to involve the four candidates running for the two open seats on the Columbia Heights City Council.

The City Council portion of the evening will be 60 minutes. The commissioner and mayoral portions will each be 30 minutes. A moderator will be provided by the League of Women Voters ABC with questions submitted by the audience.

Each candidate will be given one minute per question, with the intent to cover as many areas of interest expressed by the audience as possible.

The forum will be taped for multiple cable showings and will also be available online. The event is open to the public.

The Columbia Heights mayoral candidates are Connie Buesgens and Donna Schmitt. Columbia Heights City Council candidates are Nelle Bing, Kay "Kt" Jacobs, John Murzyn Jr., and Nick Novitsky. District 4 Anoka County Commissioner candidates are Sean Broom and Mandy Meisner.

Absentee voting begins Sept 21 at City Hall.
