Fall Street Sweeping Begins

City Begins Fall Street Sweeping to Clear Leaves from Roadways and Gutters; Residents are Asked Not to Rake Leaves Into Street
The City of Columbia Heights deploys street sweeping trucks each fall to clear leaves out of the streets and gutters. Fallen leaves clog storm drains and pollute local waterways, so it's important for crews to clear them from the roads before the first snowfall.

Sweeping trucks will make two passes, once now and again after the bulk of leaves have fallen.

Please help the City keep gutters clear by bagging up the leaves in your yard. Raking leaves into the street makes it harder for crews to complete sweeping and contributes to drainage clogs. Also, avoid parking on the street when possible.

Thank you for your help!
