Volunteers Needed for Buddy Up and Read Program

The Columbia Heights Public Library is seeking adult volunteers for the library’s Buddy Up and Read program. The program offers one-on-one assistance to adults looking to improve their reading skills in a low-stress, supportive environment.

Now in its eighth year at the library, the program has shown noticeable results in people’s reading skills, which has helped in their day-to-day lives, said Cortni O’Brien, adult services librarian.

The library is looking for several more volunteers to be paired up with participants. The time commitment is one hour per week for six months.
