DIY Face Covering Donations Needed
Homemade Face Coverings Wanted for Fire Department Donation Drive April 25
To help deal with the current medical mask shortage, Minnesotans are being asked to create and deliver homemade masks to their local fire departments this Sat, April 25, from 10 am-2 pm. Fire departments will then deliver the masks to local congregate living facilities for their employees and residents to wear.
The Columbia Heights Fire Department, 825 41st Ave NE, will place a marked receptacle inside the front vestibule of the Public Safety Building. The door will be propped open and people are welcome to enter and deposit masks.
The building itself is still closed to the public at this time. Fire Department staff will not be present in the vestibule, but they will be monitoring the drive. Afterwards, masks will be left untouched for a period of time and then washed prior to distribution.
