Residents Wanted for 2020 Census Complete Count Committee
Volunteers are needed to help ensure all Columbia Heights residents get counted in the 2020 Census. A Complete Count Committee informational meeting will be held March 5 at City Hall.
Columbia Heights has been identified by the U.S. Census Bureau as an undercounted area. Since the census determines where district lines are drawn and how federal funding is distributed, an inaccurate headcount can create negative consequences that ripple through a community for decades.
To ensure Columbia Heights receives proper representation, the City has joined communities across the country in forming a Complete Count Committee. Officials are calling for volunteer residents to help increase awareness and encourage participation in the 2020 Census.
Complete Count info meetings have been scheduled for March 5 and March 19, 6:30-7:30 pm, at Columbia Heights City Hall. A representative from the Minnesota State Demographic Center will be present at the March 5 meeting to provide information and answer questions.
