Two Community Highway Cleanup Events Set for Oct 9 & 16

Two Columbia Heights community groups are hosting highway cleanup events in Oct. Residents are encouraged to take part in these events and help keep the community clear of debris. Facebook events for both cleanups can be found at the bottom of this page.

The first event, hosted by the Columbia Heights Lions Club, is slated for Sat, Oct 9. Volunteers are asked to meet at Murzyn Hall at 8:30 am. The cleanup event covers University Ave NE (Highway 47).

Along with the cleanup event, a paper shredding truck and dumpster will be stationed in the Murzyn Hall parking lot for public use from 9 am to noon.

From 10 am to noon, the Columbia Heights Lions Club will also have a personal hygiene drive to benefit the Southern Anoka Community Assistance (SACA) Food Shelf & Thrift Store.

For volunteers interested in the Columbia Heights Lions Club cleanup, please contact Nick Novitsky at 612-760-4463.

The second event, hosted by HeightsNEXT, takes place Sat, Oct 16. Volunteers are asked to meet at the Columbia Heights Public Library (3939 Central Ave NE) at 9 am. The HeightsNEXT cleanup covers Central Ave NE (Highway 65).
